Why Did I Start This Blog?

This is about my journey to BE what God intended me to be – who He made me to be. Creative, grateful, contented, gracious, transformed, _______?  Fill in the blank day by day, Holy Spirit!

I’ll TRY to be as open, vulnerable and authentic as I can be…while not completely cutting open my chest & baring my heart to be sliced & diced… I’m weak, I struggle with being “a good Christian,” I make mistakes. Lots of them. But I have a feeling that you do, too. And I think most of us have the disheartening thought sometimes that everyone else has it together…that we may be in the “losers” club.  I’m always encouraged when others tell their stories and the promises that Christ gives them, so I hope you are, too.

I’ve been a journaler for a long time & love to see what comes out of my heart onto paper. I love MORE to see what God reveals to me during & after journaling. When I re-read my writing, I am thrilled to see how God has been working in me, through me, and in spite of me. We can so easily forget. The flip side is sometimes I am heartbroken to see unresolved, unchanged issues that pop up page after page. But always, always, I delight in the chance to share the AMAZING things that He reveals to me!

A lot of my journaling over the past few years has been about how God made me, what His purpose is for me, and how He wants to use me. Part of it is the realization that sometimes I have been able to share pieces that seemed to help someone else’s situation. Then I picked up a book titled The Soul Tells a Story and…..well, guess I’ll tell more about that along the way.

Hope you join me and share your stories. We need each other!

  1. I *also* love re-reading past entries and seeing the light bulbs come on in my brain as God connects the mysterious dots! I write in a private diary for this purpose as well. My blog is also for tracking His presence in my life, but primarily for sharing those tracks with others. I was being so encouraged every day by a few specific blogs that I was finally inspired to start my own. 🙂

I also love to create things—it’s my favorite part of being made in His image!

  2. This is a beautiful blog, Chrystal… Keep it up, and of course, keep being authentic. We need more open, authentic disciples of Jesus who are not afraid to bear their blessings and their scars, too.

  3. Thank you for sharing, and God bless you.

  4. Chrystal- I did not know about this blog! Just great! Barb

  5. Chrystal,

As a fellow seeker of God’s call in my life, a mom, a wife and all else, I am so glad you found my blog.

We truly need to support each other on our journeys. I am looking forward to getting to know.

  6. Thank you kindly for dropping by my blog. 🙂

  7. I really like this blog, I can see I’m going to enjoy. 🙂

    • Beverley. I am a little overwhelmed at the moment. If you look at the date of my last post, you’ll see it’s been almost a year! God had taken me on a little private journey with Him, and I just couldn’t post anything. I’ve done a lot of journaling, but writing on this blog…or reading anyone’s….has NOT been on my list. At all. About a week ago, I went back & started reading some of my posts. And just this morning – actually about the EXACT same time you started “liking” and commenting on my posts – I was having breakfast with a friend and was telling her that I thought I may be ready to start blogging again. I think God just gave me His answer to that. Thank you for being a part of that, Beverley!
